Four prisoners escaped from the J. B. Gates Correctional Facility on November 22, 1992 after cutting through a fence and scaling over razor wire, authorities said.
Three sets of blue prison clothing were found less than a mile from the prison, leading the state police to believe that three of the escapees were picked up along a road near Interstate 95, said Sgt. Scott O'Mara, a spokesman for the state police.
The fourth escaped prisoner probably went a different way, as state police tracking dogs followed a different scent, Sergeant O'Mara said.
The men used clothing to cover the razor wire they climbed over, Mr. Flower said.
